Still, it will take some time for the Christmas season, but with the beginning of November and the slow lowering of temperatures, there is also a pleasant rediscovery of cozy domestic environments, where creating and living an atmosphere of hospitality and enjoying the flavor of good recipes to bring to the table, in the name of conviviality with family and friends.
We baked and served excellent shortcrust pastries during this first weekend of November. The secret reason for their goodness was in their lightness, crumbliness and in their typical Christmas flavor made of roasted hazelnuts and spices, such as cardamom and cloves.
For these pastries made with oat flour, we needed the following ingredients: 200 gr of oat flour, 150 gr of roasted hazelnuts, 90 gr of brown sugar, 50 gr of butter, 8 gr of baking powder, 1 egg.
In a bowl, whip and mix an egg, sugar and butter until the mixture has become creamy and fluffy. Next, we added the sifted oat flour with baking powder, a pinch of salt and the toasted and chopped hazelnuts. We mixed the dough well and rolled it out on the table with a rolling pin. We used a mold with a floral decoration to create our pastries.
We baked pastries very quick in the oven (about 10 minutes – 170°C) and served them after dinner with a few drops of syrupy pomegranate jelly on top.
If you like it, you could dip the pastries in thick dark chocolate, for example. Now, don’t you think that this recipe can be a useful culinary suggestion for the Christmas season as well?
Enjoy November and the new week on arrival, everybody.
