It was a lovely Sunday lunch at home with family. A shortcrust tart filled with chocolate cream was the dessert we enjoyed at the end of lunch. Children loved it and grown-ups too.
Sometimes we wonder, why do we eat and what is behind the process?
- Do we eat to satisfy a hunger we feel in our stomach or to satisfy a curiosity on the palate?
- What kind of flavor is it?
- How do our taste buds work?
- In which part of the mouth do we perceive a certain flavor?
- Is it an epiphany that takes us back to a previous taste experience or a specific event?
- Can we associate the flavor of something with a particular moment or event?
- Which senses are mainly involved in the sensory analysis of a food?
- What role does our brain play and which part of it is activated and is able to receive and transmit information about what we eat?
- What kind of evolution have we, living beings, undergone over millions of years to get to this point?
- Which kind of food contributes to the well-being of our brain and which should be avoided?
- How is food technology transforming the way we perceive and talk about food?
Stay hungry, stay curious
