Strawberries or blueberries?

The season for strawberries and blueberries is here and it is the ideal time for filling the jars with some good home made jam. At the food market I found gorgeous baskets of fresh strawberries and blueberries for an affordable price and wondered, strawberries’ or blueberries’? Which jam to prefer on a slice of bread?

It is easy to prepare jam. Proportions are up to different kinds of fruit chosen for making it, since some fruits have more water and sugar inside instead of others. It is not necessary to add thickening agent. A good old tip from my Mum is to leave the jam boiling slowly without stiring it with a spoon. It won’t get stuck to the bottom of the pan.

Any way, let’s start with a blueberries syrup made with fresh blueberries and some sugar. My small cheese cake, made with a base of dried biscuits and melted butter, will taste very good by adding the syrup of fresh blueberries to the whipped cream and yogurt for a top creamy layer. No baking. Once I will finish and freeze the cheese cake for a while, it will be a fresh dessert ideal to serve during the Spring and Summer season.

Wishing everybody a good day.
