An Afternoon in Lecce: Food, Love, and Art

Cooking Class
The puccette freshly baked last night are small, simple, soft loaves with all the fragrance and flavor of our local olives

An amazing Ferragosto afternoon with a lovely couple on honeymoon, Leah and William, from Kansas, US. As soon as they arrived in Lecce, only an hour before, they headed to join in for their cooking class with us. Here, Leah is at the stove, helping with cooking slices of aubergine we'll later use to make parmigiana. Thank you so much to both of them for the wonderful time we had and for the beautiful conversation about Shakespeare.

Castello Carlo V - Lecce. According to our own opinion, choosing to bring Shakespeare into the dark dungeons of a castle, among the ruins of old, stripped-down litters and into the Babel of a cacophonous sound effects, does not seem to be the best way to bring out the immortal beauty of his art. Shedding light and allowing the Bard to speak in his own original language would have helped strengthen expectactions and food for thought for the attentive reader/spectator, embarking on an intimate journey of dialogue with the Poet to rediscover the creative and interdisciplinary value of the material of which the language of Shakespeare is made.
